GENEVA (AP) — Iran will play at least one of its World Cup matches in the United States though the tournament draw on Friday avoided a group-stage clash between the geopolitical rivals.
The schedule for the 2026 World Cup will be announced at midday ET by FIFA today. The draw for the tournament took place at the Kennedy Center in Washington, D.C. yesterday and followed President Donald Trump receiving the inaugural FIFA Peace Prize.
The FIFA World Cup draw at the Kennedy Center in Washington, D.C., divided a record 48 teams into 12 groups of four. Six spots won’t be determined until March, when 22 teams will face off in playoffs.
